The CPA Lady Lions began the defense of last year’s state title with a convincing 62-40 win over Livingston Academy. The Lady Lions will face Elizabethton at 4:00 on Friday in the semi-finals of the TSSAA DI-AA State Tournament at Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU in Murfreeesboro.
CPA started off the game a little slowly getting down early 10-7, but they finished the first quarter strongly to lead 12-10.Then the Lady Lions had a big 2nd quarter, outscoring Livingston 19-6 in the frame, to lead 31-16 at the half. Livingston outscored CPA 14-10 in the 3rd to make the score 41-30 , but CPA really poured it on in the 4th and went on to win 62-40.
The Lady Lions were led by Meredith Roman with 19 points, while Lauren Thompson and Faith LeGate each netted 15 points apiece.Thompson also had 19 rebounds for a double-double.
The Lady Lions had a 45-22 edge in rebounds.
